What is Pilates?
Pilates is a low-impact exercise method that focuses on strengthening muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.
Is Pilates suitable for beginners?
Yes, Pilates is suitable for all fitness levels, including beginners. The class is specifically designed to suit different levels, offering simpler movements for beginners and more challenging exercises to improve your strength and fitness. The 1:1 sessions are tailored to your individual needs and goals.
What should I wear to a Pilates class?
Wear comfortable, form-fitting clothing that allows for easy movement. Avoid clothes that are too loose, as they can get in the way during exercise. Most Pilates is done barefoot, but you can wear non-slip socks if preferred.
Do I need to bring anything else with me to class?
You will need to bring an exercise mat to the class and a small towel to support your head or back if you need extra support. Please also bring a bottle of water.
Do I need to be flexible or fit?
Absolutely not. Pilates exercises are about functional movement and mobility. The exercises are modified so that you can work at your own pace and level of fitness.
How often should I do Pilates to see results?
Consistency is key. Practising Pilates regularly can lead to noticeable improvements in strength, toning and overall fitness within a few weeks.
What’s the difference between Pilates and Yoga?
While both Pilates and Yoga focus on mind-body connection, Pilates emphasises core strength and controlled movements. Yoga incorporates a broader range of poses and often includes spiritual and meditative elements which are not included in Pilates.
Can I lose weight with Pilates?
Pilates can help with weight loss by building muscle and increasing overall activity levels.
How do I get started with Pilates?
Simply sign up or contact us to book a class. I will guide you through the different exercises and help you set achievable goals for your Pilates practice.
You can make a booking on our booking App, Gymcatch. You will need to create an account to register and login to book a class. You can download the App from the App Store.
Where are the classes held?
Classes are held at The Ringway Centre, 268 Baring Road, SE12 0DS. Limited parking is available on site. Off-street parking available on nearby roads. Please check parking restrictions.
All classes must be booked in advance, using the Gymcatch App or web platform.
How do I cancel a class?
